What is Domisolca?
Domisolca is our art education school, designed as the first stage of musical training. Children do not attend music class separately from visual arts: all four disciplines are taught together, as each one enriches the others.
The aim is for children to become simultaneously readers, listeners, musicians, spectators, actors and artists. Learning to listen to a piece, act it out, dance it and draw it develops an understanding of artistic culture that cannot be achieved by studying each art form separately.
The method
The programme was developed by Marina Sipchenko, PhD in Cultural Studies, pianist and musicologist, based on her research into the synthesis of the arts: literature, music, visual arts, theatre, dance and film.
For ten years she has presented the results of this work in conferences and seminars on music pedagogy at the University of Girona, the University of Granada, the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona and the University of Barcelona's master's programme Music as an Interdisciplinary Art. She is also author of the book Musical Culture and Artistic Education.
The classes apply methods from the psychology of artistic perception and developmental psychology.

The next step
Domisolca prepares students for their future musical education. When children turn six, they can continue at the Russian Academy of Music in Barcelona with the instrument of their choice, already having developed their ear, sense of rhythm and capacity for self-expression.
