Svetlana Tovstukha

Cello

Born in Kazan, she graduated in cello from the Kazan State Conservatory under Professor Hairutdinov, and subsequently studied for five years with the great maestro Daniel Shafran. She completed her training with a Master's degree at Trinity College of Music in London under the direction of Karine Georgian, and at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid with Frans Helmerson and Natalia Schakovskaya, holding scholarships from the Isaac Albéniz Foundation and AECI.

Winner of first prizes in highly prestigious international competitions: the All-Russian Cello Competition, the Liezen International Cello Competition (Austria), the Lille International Cello Competition (France) and the Bromley Festival Contest (United Kingdom), among others. In 2000 she received the El Primer Palau Award for her performance at the Palau de la Música Catalana accompanied by the Vallès Symphony Orchestra. She has performed as a soloist with the Romanian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian State Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Concert Society Orchestra and the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, among others, and has received advice from Mstislav Rostropovich, Yehudi Menuhin and Zubin Mehta, among other illustrious performers and conductors.
